Walter E. McKissick Jr.

Walter E. McKissick Jr., 70, of Oil City, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born January 13, 1949, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Hazel E. McCanna McKissick.

He graduated from Oil City High School.

Walter was an avid hunter and was able to shoot his final deer just this past December, dragging it out of the woods completely by himself.

Wally shared 25 years of his life with Sherry Shelby, who preceded him in death in 2013.

Surviving is one sister, Sandra Mullen and her husband, Norris, of Seneca; a nephew, James Mullen and his wife, Austin, of Norwich, NY; and a niece, Susan Lindenberg and her husband, Dennis, of Seneca.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Eddie Phillips.

Per Walter’s request, there will be no visitation or services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to “Hunt of a Lifetime,” a nonprofit organization with a mission to grant hunting and fishing dreams for children who have been diagnosed with life threatening illnesses. Contributions can be mailed to, Hunt of a Lifetime, 6297 Buffalo Road, Harborcreek, PA 16421.

The Morrison Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
