- At the start of Penguins training camp last fall, the words “fast” and “fearless” adorned team apparel, signs on dressing room walls and almost anything else the coaching and equipment staff thought could echo their organization’s identity.
- The Pittsburgh Pirates added to their lineup Thursday in the “Great Pierogi Race,” announcing the addition of Pizza Penny — the second female in the group of pierogi characters that races following the fifth inning.
- Keith Dambrot loved Akron so much he never took a vacation, just lived on a little lake outside of town.
- Although the Pirates are continuing to support and work with Jung Ho Kang as the third baseman tries to get himself back into the U.S. following his third DUI in South Korea, their support extends only so far.
- Glimpses of Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and other injured Penguins roaming hallways without assistance before or after practices invited speculation about the state of the ailing team members, but little in the way of certainty or clarity exists when it comes to potential return dates.
