  • Pirates owner Bob Nutting spoke to the team before the first full-squad workout of spring training, and his message on Monday morning didn’t change despite a tumultuous offseason.

  • Just in time for the trade deadline, Penguins third-line center Riley Sheahan is playing some of his best hockey in years.
  • Baker Mayfield doesn’t like comparisons to Johnny Manziel, although the Heisman Trophy winner wasn’t surprised by them after an arrest and other antics during his time with the Oklahoma Sooners.
  • Pirates utility player Josh Harrison expressed his preference to play second base and to hit in one of the first three spots in the batting order this season, saying, “it would be a nice little switch-up, start somewhere. It’s about being transparent, out in the open and let people know where they stand.”
