36-Year-Old Man Faces Charges for Filing False Theft Report to Franklin Police

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A 36-year-old man is facing charges for filing a false report of theft to the Franklin Police Department.

According to court documents, the Franklin Police Department filed criminal charges against 36-year-old David Allen Peterson, Jr., of Greenville.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:16 a.m. on October 12, Franklin Police were dispatched to 643 Elk Street for a report of two unwanted persons in the residence and a theft of $1,800.00.

The complaint states that upon arriving on scene, police interviewed the complainant, David Peterson, and two witnesses. During the investigation, one of the witnesses provided a written statement indicating that the individuals were not trespassing and no money was stolen.

Based on the investigation, a criminal complaint was filed against Peterson in District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office on the following offenses:

  • False Report — Falsely Incriminate Another, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
  • False Reports — Reported Offense Did Not Occur, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on November 16, at Venango County Central Court in front of Judge Kirtland.
