OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — A 5-year-old Cooperstown boy was pronounced dead after an accident that occurred around 4:40 p.m. on April 19, at a private property along Cooperstown Road, in Oakland Township, Venango County.

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh contacted Franklin-based State Police from the UPMC Northwest Hospital to report an accident that resulted in the death of the Cooperstown boy.

According to Rugh, around 4:47 p.m. on Saturday, a call for emergency services went out for 5-year-old, Edward J. Kee, of Cooperstown.

Though she hasn’t made a ruling as to the cause of death, Rugh told exploreVenango.com, “Ultimately what happened was, he fell off the (farm) tractor he was riding with his father and was run over by the back tires.”

Rugh says Kee was transported to UPMC Northwest where resuscitation efforts continued, but all failed, and was pronounced dead ER doctor at 6:20 p.m. on April 19.

According to Rugh, she had the hospital take x-rays, to investigate further, but due to Easter weekend, the results of the x-rays are not yet available.

“His death is related to blunt force trauma,” Rugh explains.

Franklin-based State Police say the victim’s two brothers were also riding on the farm tractor at the time of the incident.

The investigation into what appears to be an accidental death is continuing, according to police.

Responding to the scene were members from Cooperstown and Oakland Volunteer Fire Departments and Utica and Community Ambulances.
