CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City woman is facing theft charges after she allegedly stole a wallet at a medical facility in Cranberry Township on Friday morning.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 10:15 a.m. on Friday, October 11, Officer Morrison responded to Hope Pediatrics located on State Route 257, in Seneca, Cranberry Township, Venango County, after a report was made that a known female stole a wallet. Officer Morrison arrived on the scene and retrieved the wallet from 27-year-old Cinnamon Ann Marie Wheeler, of Oil City.

According to Officer Morrison, Wheeler had found the wallet that was mistakenly left on a seat in the waiting room by the victim — a known 29-year-old Venus woman. Wheeler “chose to conceal the wallet on her person.” The victim returned to the waiting area questioning Wheeler if she had found a wallet, and Wheeler denied having found it.

When Officer Morrison arrived at the scene and spoke to Wheeler in an examination room, she initially denied having the wallet but eventually advised him that she had thrown it on top of the cabinet in the room that she was presently in. The wallet and its contents were returned to the victim at the scene.

The following items were stolen:

– Gray Wallet, Valued at $10.00
– Debit Card
– VISA Card
– $16.00 in U.S. currency

A criminal complaint was filed at Magisterial District Judge Patrick Lowrey’s office on October 11.

The following charges were filed against Wheeler:

– Title 18, Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition, Misdemeanor 3
– Theft of Property Lost, Mislaid or Delivered by Mistake, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 11 at 1:30 p.m.
