A. “Romayne” Conner

| September 23, 2016

A. “Romayne” Conner, age 79, of Brookville, Pa., passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours of Friday, September 23, 2016.

She was born on October 4, 1936, in Brookville, Pa., to the late Lynn and Goldie (Myers) Hetrick.

On January 28, 1956, she married James A. Conner in Brookville, Pa. James preceded her in passing on June 17, 1988.

After Romayne graduated from high school she took a job as a professional bookkeeper, and she was very good at it. When she was in her 40’s she went back to school for nursing. She became a traveling nurse and that was a good fit for her because she loved people.

Her next step in life took her to North Fork Heights in Brookville, Pa., where she became an onsite manager. Her most recent endeavor and position was held as the Director of Operations for the Heritage House in Brookville, Pa.

Romayne was also a member of the Brookville Fraternal Order of Eagles, #983, and a member of the Brookville Firemen’s Club.

She loved being a grandma. Unquestionably she was a loving caretaker. Her passion was caring for people and making them happy. She would bring enjoyment, laughter, and light-heartedness everywhere she went. She was a very ambitious, organized, hardworking, and dedicated woman; especially to those she loved at the Heritage House. She was very generous with her time and anything else that she may have had. She supported and was a strong advocate for our Veterans as well.

She leaves a void that will be hard to fill. She will be missed by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Romayne is survived by two daughters, Bambi Walters of Franklin, Pa.; Kim Dean of Franklin, Pa.; one son, Troy (Kamie) Conner of Florida; one brother, David Hetrick of Brookville, Pa.; five grandchildren, Misty (Shawn) Basham, Joseph Dean, Jamie (Melissa) Dean, Michael Kopnitsky, Tana (Brennan) Welter; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her closest and dearest friends, Karen and Dave Deemer, and Marie McKinley.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one son-in-law, James Dean; and one grandson, Caleb Conner.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, Pa., 15825, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and officiated by the Rev. Chuck Jack.
