Adelaide M. (Addie) Sagan Sauerland

ed322a8e869a3d77Adelaide M. (Addie) Sagan Sauerland, 95, formerly of the Diamond area, died peacefully at 7:46 P.M. Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Golden Living Center of Titusville where she has been a resident since March 26, 2012.

Mrs. Sauerland was born May 8, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York a daughter of the late Fred Steinert and Louise Schwarz Steinert. She married Albin J. Sagan June 14, 1936 in Long Island, New York. Mr. Sagan died October 2, 1983. Addie later married Gustav A.R. Sauerland December 30, 1989 in Titusville.

Mr. Sauerland died August 10, 1996. Addie worked with husband Albin as office manager for Sagan Tractor Sales from 1959 to 1973.

She was a member of St. Titus Church and Altar and Rosary Society, and Polish National Alliance of Titusville. Addie enjoyed knitting, crafting, traveling, crocheting, gardening, reading, doing crossword puzzles, picture puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include five children, Katherine Wescoat and her husband Melvin of Titusville, Veronica Fabian and her husband Joseph of Virginia Beach, VA, Lorrie Iszkula and her husband Dave of Acworth, Georgia, James Sagan and his wife Diana of Cambridge Springs and Frederick Sagan and his wife Beverly of Cooperstown; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Gustav Sauerland of North Carolina and James Sauerland and his wife Ruth of Titusville; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four grandchildren, a sister Louise Wieber and a brother Frederick Steinert.

A Christian Wake Service will be conducted at 1:45 P.M. Sunday at Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home, Inc., 203 E. Main St., Titusville, by Rev. Father Walter Packard, pastor for the Catholic Community of Titusville. Relatives and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 8:45 P.M.

A transfer service will be conducted Monday at 9:30 A.M. followed by the funeral mass at 10 A.M. at St. Titus Church with Father Packard, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharine Cemetery.
