Adult Swim Lessons Offered at Oil City YMCA

| June 3, 2018

OIL CITY, Pa. – Adults are learning to swim at the Oil City YMCA through an adult swim lesson program.

“This program is really popular and a lot of fun,” said Marissa McFarland, who teaches the program.

“As a swim instructor, I find many adults who do not know how to swim have such a fear of the water, which is quite understandable. There is so much pleasure and satisfaction teaching an adult to swim and to get over their fears of the water. We want it to be a great, lifetime exercise that you can enjoy on your own.”

McFarland has been instructing swim lessons at the YMCA for several years and coaches competitive swimming.  She is also an avid swimmer on the YMCA Masters Swim Team.  It was in her adult years that she perfected her swim strokes and learned to be a better swimmer.
