Aggravated Assault, Other Charges Against VisionQuest Teen

SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Multiple charges against a teen accused of assaulting a VisionQuest employee were dropped on Wednesday.

The following charges against 18-year-old Braheem Allen Benson, of Philadelphia, were dropped during a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Venango County Central Court:

  • Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Summary

One summary count of harassment was maintained and moved to non-traffic court.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Franklin-based State Police Trooper Cole, the charges stemmed from an alleged altercation on November 8 at the VisionQuest detention center along Hudmont Lane.

Police were dispatched to the facility around 9:38 a.m. for a report of a male staff member being assaulted by a resident.

Benson was released from the Venango County Jail.
