Albert MahleAlbert “Pete” E. Mahle, 92, of Venus, passed away on May 27, 2017 at Oil City Nursing and Rehab. after a lengthy illness.

Born on June 11, 1924 in Strobleton, he was the son of Charles Evan and Edna Ann Bell Mahle.

He attended Huefner School and earned his GED from North Clarion High School.

Pete was married on September 8, 1945 to Etta Jean Hart who survives.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus.

He was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 464 of Oil City.

He held memberships in the American Legion Post 32 of Oil City and AARP. He was one of the founding members of the Fryburg Sportsman’s Club in Fryburg.

Pete was employed by the Venus Telephone Corp for 27 years and served as an engineer when the new dial system was installed in 1963. He attended Telephone Schools in Rochester NY and Milan TN.

Pete served as manager at Venus Telephone Corp until his retirement in 1976.

Outside of his daily work Pete farmed and had a dairy for several years.

The outdoors always called his name and he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper.

He instilled a love of the outdoors in all of his family and his children and grandchildren still participate in all the activities that he enjoyed.

He also enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, biking, and coon hunting with his dogs in earlier years. He loved spending time with his family.

Pete and Jean enjoyed round and square dance with the Lucky Twirlers Square Dance Club for many years.

Pete was a proud WWII veteran. He trained with the 69th Inf. Division in the states and the 9th Division in England as an expert rifleman. He fought in the Normandy invasion and was wounded in the battle of St. Lo. France.

After he was wounded he was hospitalized in England and then back in the states. Pete was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the European Africa Middle Theater Robin with two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge Expert Mi Rifle and Bar.

Pete is survived by his wife and their children Michael Mahle and his wife Paula of Fryburg, and John Mahle and his wife Deanna of Oil City. Grandchildren surviving include David Mahle and his wife Veronica of Scranton, Stephanie Ann Morrison of Titusville, Jason Mahle and his wife Faith of Ravenna, OH, Julie Lynn Johnson and her husband Steve of Venus, Emily Suzanne Morello and her husband Peter of Stewart FL. Great-Grandchildren surviving include Meaghan Mahle, Kathleen Mahle, Arriana Mahle; Alexis Morrison, Kendrick Morrison, Tage Mahle, Owen Mahle, Adam Mahle, Logan Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Gia Donna Morello, and Dominic Morello.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Henry Mahle, a sister Margaret Ritts, a daughter-in-law Donna Jean Stephens Mahle, and a granddaughter Jeanetta Rene Mahle.

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Monday, May 29, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on May 30, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Venus, with Rev. Deborah Jacobson Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church presiding.

Interment will be in the Venus Cemetery following the service.

Memorials in Pete’s honor may be made to Disable Veterans or Faith Lutheran Church.
