On January 5, 1949 in Stewart Run, Harmony Twp., Forest Co., PA, he married Audrey J. (Twombly) Neely, who died October 29, 2005.

He was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Venus, PA where he served the church as Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher.

He first worked at the Tannery in West Hickory PA then served his county in the US Army Air Corps from 1942-1946 during WWII. He was honorably discharged. For most of his life he was self-employed in the lumber business. He served as Steward of the Stewart Run Cemetery for many years. Alex enjoyed reading his bible, hunting and gardening.

Surviving are a son, Andrew L. Neely and his wife Donna of Tionesta. Two daughters, Patti Lucas and her husband Rick of Greensburg, Kentucky, and June Seeley of Brockway, PA. Seven grandchildren, Tammy McKendree, also of Brockway; Rhonda Hall of Brookville; Stacy Hall of Marienville, PA; Stephanie Stearns of Townville, PA; Joel Blum of Greensburg, KY; John Clinger of West Springfield, PA; Amber Neely of Tionesta. Nine great-grandchildren, one great great granddaughter. Two sisters, Nettie Neville of Clearfield, PA, and Grace Smith of Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Alex was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew Neely and his wife Ruby. A sister and brother-in-law Helen Hepler and her husband Archie. Two additional brother-in-laws, Robert Neville and Leon Smith.

Friends will be received at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta on Friday from 6-8. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Joshua Peck, pastor of the Venus Pilgrim Holiness Church. Burial at Stewart Run Cemetery, Harmony Twp., Forest Co., PA.
