Allice MillerAlice Irean (Dresch) Miller of Wesley, Pa., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 6, 2017. She was 97.

Born on Nov. 29, 1919, she was the daughter of Alfred and Mary (Richardson) Dresch.

Alice married Kenneth Miller on Dec. 25, 1937. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. Kenneth preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2001. They resided in Wesley for their entire married life.

Alice graduated from Grove City High School in 1937 and attended New Castle Business School. She was employed by the Cooper Bessemer for 38 years.

She was a strong believer in the value of education. Through her and her husband’s hard work, their children were educated and left home student-loan free.

Alice readied her six children for spiritual training at the Wesley Methodist Church each Sunday. She displayed the virtue described in Proverbs that states, “She opened her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness.”

She had a beautiful and dynamic personality and was gracious and kind to everyone she met.

Alice was a brilliant and resourceful woman. Throughout her lifetime she held many offices, serving as Sunday School superintendent, president of the PTA, Cooper Bessemer Women, Wesley Church Ladies’ Aid, Grove City Ladies’ Bowling League, and Pine Grove Ladies Golf League. Alice was the first person to make a hole in one at the Pine Grove Golf Course.

Her community service helped many. Alice was instrumental in helping to establish the Cooper Bessemer Credit Union. She, along with Harriet Trojanowski, formed the Wesley and Clintonville Little League Baseball Organization, where three generations of her children played: two sons, two grandchildren, and a great-grandson.

Alice is survived by: her six children, Evelyn Miller Kotch (John), Marjorie Miller Brown (Tom), Dennis Miller (Donna), Dolores Miller Barber (Ray), Janet Miller Milliron (David), and Kenneth Miller, Jr. (Candace); and sisters-in-law Olive Miller and Jane Dresch.

Alice was blessed with and deeply loved by 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by: her sister Barbara (and her husband Frank) Marinelli; brothers Frederick (and wife Donna), Willard (and wife Dorothy) and Alfred Dresch; and in-laws Lloyd (and wife Helen), Clifford, and Wendell (and wife Imogene) Miller.

As a matriarch, she leaves a legacy that includes a deeply bonded and loving family, who, by her example, desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm Thursday at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave. in Grove City.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park in Grove City.
