Dick graduated from Concord High School before enlisting in Army.

He served in WWII; he was a heavy machine gunner. His duties included loading, aiming, cleaning, maintaining, and firing 50 caliber heavy machine guns in defense against enemy aircrafts.

Dick was a proud veteran. During his service, he received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.

He married Leatrice Clyde upon returning home from war on July 10, 1946. Dick and Leatrice enjoyed 70 years of marriage.

Dick was a retired truck driver from Daniels Transfer Company in Franklin.

He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to keep busy in his gardens. Dick loved to go fishing and made many trips to Michigan to fish. He looked forward to deer season every year and going into the woods with his family.
