Allen R. Roberts, 88 of Potomac Falls, VA formerly of Marienville, PA, peacefully passed away Tuesday, January, 3, 2017 at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, VA surrounded by his family.

He was born June 1, 1928 in Doddridge County, WV to Israel Larmar and Odessa Roberts. In 1958 he married Audrey Joanne Huggler, whom survives.

Allen served as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a 50-year Mason.

Allen was passionate about Marienville, serving in many leadership positions, including, Commissioner of Forest County, first president of Marienville Area Civic Association, first president of Marienville Medical Center Board and Executive Director of Experience Inc, overseeing Warren and Forest Counties Area Agency on Aging.

He also owned three gas stations in the Marienville area, served as Vice President of the Warren County Rotary Club, worked for the Forest Service, and taught auto mechanics to inner city youth at the Marienville Job Corps Program.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, Gregory of Bellevue, WA, and Douglas (Kamie) of Potomac Falls, VA; and grandchildren Alexander (Amber), and Chelsea of Bellevue, WA; Joshua, Alyssa and Josephine of Potomac Falls, VA and great granddaughter Ayda of Bellevue, WA.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 7 from 12 — 2pm.

Funeral service and military honors will follow at 2pm at the Furlong Funeral Home 140 Cherry Street, Marienville PA with the Rev. Dan Richter officiating.

Interment will follow at the St. Ann’s cemetery, Jenks Twp, Forest County.
