Ann Sberna

Ann Sberna, formerly of Franklin, passed peacefully on Wednesday July 20, 2016 at her home in Burbank, CA.

A daughter of Harry R. and Fleta Morgan Moyer, she was born in Franklin on May 13, 1922. She was a graduate of Lakewood High School and continued her education with nurses training.

A homemaker, Ann was a member of St. Patrick Church. During World War II she had worked at Talon making parachutes for American servicemen. She had worked in retail sales at various times in her life. She had volunteered with the V.N.A. of Venango County home care unit and DeBence Music Museum. An avid reader she took intense interest in the news and politics of the day. Her wit, amazing humor and brutal honesty will be missed by her family and friends.

On September 24, 1944 she married Christopher Sberna. He died January 29, 1991.

Surviving are a son Lt. Col. (Ret.) Robert A. Sberna and his wife Phyllis of Charleston, SC; two daughters Mary C. Sberna of Burbank, CA and Margaret Sberna and her husband William Santangelo of Agoura Hills, CA; 7 grandchildren Daniel C. Novak, Julia and Lauren Sberna, Anna Amado and her husband Michael, Julie Mark and her husband Douglas, Jennifer VonTobel and her husband Will, and Billy J. Santangelo and his wife Janna; 5 great-grandchildren Christopher Arroyo, Amelia and Kaylee VonTobel, and Colin and Brayden Mark. Also surviving is a brother Robert Moyer of Rocky River, OH, two nieces and a nephew.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Joseph “Pepe” Sberna in 1966.

Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St. from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Robert Manning, presiding.

Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery.
