Annetta Valrea DiChiara of Shippenville passed away on February 10, 2017 at the Clarion Hospital. She was 86 years of age.

Born near Buckhorn in Elk Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Goldie (Miller) Cobler.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having also be predeceased by her brother, Daniel E. Cobler, and her sister, Helen Cobler Dess.

Annie graduated from Shippenville High School in 1948.

She was glad to be able to attend reunions and reminisce with her classmates. After high school, she worked as a typesetter for the Chicago Tribune newspaper.

It was there that she became a fan of the Chicago Cubs and White Sox.

She was dedicated to the Cubbies and the Sox and followed the teams even as she moved around the country.

She also enjoyed playing euchre and other card games.

Annie is survived by her son, Gene Nielsen of Erie, a step-daughter, Diana Spiller of North Carolina, numerous nieces and nephews, and her close friends Jack and Patricia Winger, who cared for her for many years.

A memorial celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at the Providence United Methodist Church, 245 Providence Church Road, Knox 16232.
