CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion County’s Autumn Leaf Festival will kick off on Saturday, September 29.

The theme for this year’s festival, sponsored by the U.S. Army, is “A Timeless Tradition.”

Joe Wolf, the 2017 ALF co-chair, will be chairing this year’s event.

There are a few changes to ALF 2018, including an expansion of the Foodstock program, new Autumn Leaf Festival merchandise, and the addition of the “Miss Petite” category to the Miss Teen and Miss Junior Teen ALF Scholarship Program, which begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at Clarion Area High School Auditorium.

One new event will be a highlight of the opening day of the festival: the United States Army Drill Team, a precision drill platoon whose primary mission is to showcase the U.S. Army through their rifle routines, will be performing in front of the Courthouse on Main Street, in Clarion, on Saturday, September 29, at 12:30 p.m.

Saturday is also the United Way of Clarion County’s 34th Annual 5K and 10K Race, with registration opening at 7:00 a.m. and the race stepping off at 9:00 a.m.

The Pennsylvania State Old Time Fiddlers’ contest will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 600 Wood Street, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Saturday also highlights fun for the younger crowd with activities including the Advanced Disposal “Touch-a-Truck” event, the Bigfoot Country 102.1/101.3 “Kids’ Carnival,” and Wolf’s Auto Outlet “Power Wheels Derby” all being held at the Clarion Mall.

The annual Autorama Cruise-In and the Farmer’s National Bank Motorcycle Show both begin Sunday, September 30, at 12:00 p.m.

A new addition to Sunday’s line-up is the Pennsylvania Woodmobile, a unique traveling exhibit providing information about the state’s forest resources, products, and industry.

Other featured events throughout the week include carnival rides and amusements, the Tournament of Leaves parade, antique tractor show, Cultural Nights, and the popular Farmer’s and Crafter’s Show.

There are several events sponsored by the Clarion Chamber of Business and Industry.
