TIONESTA, Pa. (EYT) — The Forest County District Attorney’s Office has filed felony charges against two Tionesta men accused of engaging in an illegal prescription drug transaction.

The charges below were filed on Friday at Magisterial District Judge Daniel L. Miller’s office in Tionesta.

Christopher J. Hanna, 26, of Tionesta:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession with Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony (10 counts)
  • Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor (10 counts)
  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3 (10 counts)

Kevin M. Jones, 27, of Tionesta:

  • Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor (10 counts)
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 3 (10 counts)

According to a criminal complaint filed by Forest County Sheriff’s Deputy William D. Carbaugh, Jr., the investigation was initiated on October 5.

Carbaugh is also a detective with the Forest County District Attorney’s Office and a member of the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s North West Region Drug Task Force.

On October 5, the Forest County Probation Department received an anonymous tip indicating that a Tionesta woman sold Xanax pills to a known male.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman was interviewed and provided a written statement indicating that her husband — Christopher Hanna — sold her Xanax pills without her knowledge.

The woman told police that she flushed the rest of the pills down the toilet after she became aware of the alleged sale.

Hanna was interviewed by police and provided a written statement indicating that he sold 10 pills for two dollars each to Kevin Jones in a Tionesta store parking lot on September 30, the complaint states.

According to the criminal complaint, Hanna told police he sold the pills due to “needing the money to buy cigarettes because his cigarette roller was broken.”

Jones was interviewed and denied purchasing the pills, the criminal complaint indicates.

Jones stated that he met Hanna in the store parking lot but never got out of his vehicle, according to the complaint.

The criminal complaint states that Hanna told police that “he just ran into Hanna and was talking to him.”

Both men are awaiting preliminary hearings.
