TITUSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — After more than half a century apart, an area man has reconnected with his birth mother.

In 1960, 57-year-old Mark Kobolitz was taken from his mother, Margaret “Peggy” McWilliams, at birth.

Thanks to efforts by his daughter, Misty Wagner, and ancestry.com, Kobolitz was reunited with McWilliams through Facebook earlier this year.

After phone conversations, Facebook Messenger, and video chats, they are preparing to meet early next year.

When Kobolitz was asked how much his life has changed in the last few months since finding his birth mother, he responded, “Oh my Lord, yes.”

“It was a ‘Wow’ moment. After so many years of not knowing if my birth mother was still alive, to find that she was and to be able to talk to her and with plans to meet her, it’s hard to relay how I’ve felt.”

“I was a little shocked. I had no idea she’d still be alive,” Kobolitz said.

The story began in 1960 when 18-year-old McWilliams was forced to give up Koboloitz, whom she had named David Alan.
