OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A local effort is underway to create an adult hockey league in Venango County.

Randy Wolbert, of Strattanville, is leading the way to organize the league, which will be a non-skating league. It will be for players 16 and over.

“Many years ago, there was an adult league and some friends, and I thought it would be good to have one again,” Wolbert said.

Wolbert said the league will be open to anyone, regardless of age.

“If you feel you can play, come give it a shot,” Wolbert said.

Wolbert put the word on Facebook and has received a lot of interest.

“I’ve received dozens of messages from people within 20 miles of Clarion,” Wolbert said. “We’ve had enough interest for at least six teams.”

Wolbert said the league would play once a week, on Sundays, throughout the summer, about 10 or 15 games.

“We’re just looking to have a good time, promote sportsmanship, and the great sport of hockey,” Wolbert said.

For those interested in playing, contact Wolbert on Facebook, via email at rjwolbert.14@gmail.com or by phone at 814-229-8948.
