Area Woman Allegedly Kicks State Trooper in Face, Attempts to Bite UPMC Hospital Staff

FRANKLIN, Pa (EYT) — An area woman remains in the Venango County Jail on eight counts of second-degree felony Aggravated Assault stemming from an incident at UPMC Northwest Hospital in Seneca on Friday, June 9.

According to a criminal complaint filed at District Magistrate Patrick Lowrey’s office in Seneca, State Troopers Pierce and McGee were attempting to arrest Megan Victoria Jewell, 27, of Titusville, on an outstanding warrant, when Jewell allegedly fought with the troopers and hospital staff trying to subdue her.

According to the affidavit filed by Cpl. Pierce, he and Trooper McGee were attempting to arrest Jewell when she allegedly began to fight with the troopers. During the scuffle, Jewell allegedly kicked Trooper McGee in the side of her face and injured her left wrist. Several UPMC staff members were trying to help the troopers secure the defendant when she allegedly attempted to bite six of them.

Jewell was arraigned before District Magistrate Patrick Lowrey and placed in the Venango County Jail on $75,000.00 cash bail.

She faces a preliminary hearing on June 14 before Judge Lowrey.
