Area Woman Arrested After Sexual Relationship, Drug Trade Uncovered at SCI Mercer

MERCER CO., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Stoneboro woman was arrested following an investigation that uncovered she was sexually involved with a prisoner at SCI Mercer and was smuggling drugs into the prison.

Mercer-based State Police say 44-year-old Tasha L. Vinson, of Stoneboro, was employed as a corrections officer at SCI Mercer, and was found to be involved in an intimate sexual relationship with an inmate at the prison during the course of her employment.

According to police, the inmate reported he and Vinson would engage in sexual contact during her shift at various locations within the prison.

Police say evidence was also uncovered indicating that Vinson had smuggled controlled substances into the facility for the same inmate.

During the course of the investigation, suspected K2 valued at approximately $50,000 to $60,000 was recovered from the possession of inmates within the institution.

Vinson was taken into custody on Monday, May 18 at SCI Mercer at the completion of her shift.

Court documents indicate Vinson was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Daniel W. Davis at 2:08 p.m. on May 18, on the following charges:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Contraband/Controlled Substance, Felony 2
– Institutional Sexual Assault, Felony 3
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Mercer County Jail.

She was released on May 19 on a surety posted by a professional bondsman.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, with Judge Davis presiding.
