Arthur BooferArthur A. “Punch” Boofer, 75, of West Sunbury, went to his heavenly home Tuesday afternoon, February 7, 2017 at Clarview Nursing Home in Sligo following an extended illness.

Arthur was born in Petrolia on March 11, 1941. He was the son of William H. and Aletha Earley Boofer.

He had been employed at Hoffman Auto Parts, owned and operated his own auto body shop, and also was a landscaper for several families in the West Sunbury area.

Arthur was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed old cars, attending car shows, flea markets, and auctions.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Hoffman Boofer, whom he married in Mercer on January 24, 1959.

Also surviving is a daughter, Barbara Boofer Witherup of Sharpsville, a daughter-in-law, Christie Boofer of Mercer, a grandson, Chad Boofer and his wife, Stephanie, of New Castle, two granddaughters, Christina and Stephanie Stiffy; three great grandchildren, Colten, Izabella, and Lamar Boofer of New Castle; two sisters, Doris Smell of Hermitage and Linda Claypoole of Slippery Rock; a special friend, Robert Milbert, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry, who died in 1984, a grandson, Bobby, who died in 1978, two brothers, John and Ben Boofer and three sisters, Jane Spiker, Pearl Claypoole, and Peggy Bowser.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Karns City, 128 Main St., Karns City, from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday and from Noon – 1:00 p.m. Friday where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart, a United Methodist Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Chicora.
