Arthur R. Nelson, 86, formerly of Rouseville, passed away Thursday evening August 27, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.

Mr. Nelson was born on September 1, 1928 in Titusville, a son of the late Ralph and Hazel Proctor Nelson. He was married to Mary Snyder who preceded him in death. He later married Caroline Mallory who also preceded him in death.

Mr. Nelson was a graduate of the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. He had been employed in the composing department at the Oil City Derrick. He had also been employed at the Titusville Herald and at the former GTE Sylvania in Pleasantville.

He enjoyed gardening, raising his family, playing the lottery, and collecting comic books.

He is survived by a son, Adam Nelson of Rouseville and his fiancée Dixie Hanes of Oil City; two daughters, Melissa Woodard and husband Sean of Oil City, and Lisa Welcher and husband Robert of Georgia; a granddaughter, Miranda; a brother, Ronald Nelson and wife Donna of Titusville; a sister, Shirley Phelps and husband Edward of Florida; a sister-in-law, Mary Nelson of Titusville; two step-children, Don and Betty; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lars and Bruce Nelson; and a sister, Jane Bedford.

Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 7 to 9 PM.
Services will be private.

Interment will be in Curry Cemetery.
