arthurArthur William Weaver, 89, of Seneca, went Home to be with the Lord on Wednesday night, June 14, 2017 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, following a brief illness.

A son of the late D. Lyle and Evelyn A. (O’Neil) Weaver, he was born in Knox on August 20, 1927.

He was a 1946 graduate of Ashland High School in Kossuth.

Art was a founding member of the Cranberry Area Little League, and umpired many baseball games.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and volunteered with the Pennsylvania Fish Commission. Art loved the Pittsburgh Pirates, and enjoyed watching their seasons through good and bad.

Mr. Weaver was an active member of Seneca United Methodist Church where he served on various committees throughout the years.

In his earlier years, Art worked on his father’s farm near Knox, later drove truck for his dad’s sawmill, and retired as part-owner in Weaver Lumber in Seneca.

He was married in Dayton on April 20, 1956 to the former Minnie R. Blose, who survives, along with their three children: Donna K. Weaver of Seneca, William A. Weaver and his wife Debra of Seneca, and Debra L. Bond and her husband Brad of Selah, Washington; five grandchildren: James W. Weaver and his wife Emily of Oil City, Daniel R. Weaver of Oil City, Ashley L. Bond of Selah, Washington, Samuel W. Weaver and Matthew A. Weaver, both of Seneca; and a great-granddaughter, Lillian Rose Weaver.

Also surviving is his sister, Betty Kapp and her husband Ralph of Knox; a brother, Gerald Weaver and his wife Patricia of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law, Shirley M. Weaver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Emil and Ronald Weaver; and a nephew, Douglas Weaver.

Friends will be received Saturday (June 17) from 3 – 7 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. No services will be observed on Sunday. Additional visitation will be held Monday (June 19) from noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Seneca United Methodist Church, 196 East State Road in Seneca. The Rev. William E. Hastings, church pastor, will officiate.

Interment will follow in Starr Cemetery near Nineveh, Clarion County.
