Attempted Homicide Charges Filed Against Teen in Butler County Home Invasion

Police LineKARNS CITY, Pa. (EYT) – State Police have filed charges against two area teens following a home invasion in Karns City.

State Police say the incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday when two teens entered an Olive Street home owned by 34-year-old Adam Bell of Karns City.

According to police, 19-year-old Jeremiah McGrady, of Karns CIty, and a 17-year-old male entered Bell’s home wearing gloves and masks, at which point Bell confronted them.

One of the suspects pointed a gun at Bell. Bell then began to defend himself, at which point McGrady allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Bell multiple times. The two suspects then fled the scene, according to police.

Bell was flown to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of injuries. Police say he is currently in stable condition.

McGrady has been charged with the following offenses:

– Criminal Attempt – Criminal Homicide, Felony 1
– Burglary – Overnight Accommodation – Person Present, Felony 1
– Robbery-Inflict Serious Bodily Injury, Felony 1
– Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Prop, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2

Unable to post $150,000.00 bail, McGrady was placed in the Butler County Jail.

He faces a preliminary hearing on September 30 in front of Magisterial District Judge Lewis E. Stoughton in District Court 50-3-02.

The other suspect, whose name has not been released, was placed in a juvenile detention center. It’s unclear as to what charges have been filed against him.
