HARRISBURG, Pa. (EYT) – A Titusville Area School District student was named as one of the 2015 Drug-Free Calendar Contest Winners.

This week, Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane announced the winners of the Office of Attorney General’s 18th annual Drug-Free Calendar Contest in which fifth-grade students from across the Commonwealth create an original work-of-art illustrating a drug-free message of their choice.

The grand prize winner’s artwork is displayed on the calendar’s cover and the other 12 winners represent each month of the calendar year. View the 2015 calendar. The contest is funded through the Community Drug Abuse Prevention Fund from fines and penalties collected from certain types of offenses, such as DUIs.

Winners were chosen from 895 entries from 218 schools in 50 counties throughout the Commonwealth. The winners were chosen based on the artists’ creativity and ability to illustrate and convey a drug-free message.

Agents from the Attorney General’s office visit schools and meet with children of all ages year round to educate them about the importance of being drug-free. Attorney General Kane said the drawings and paintings students submit every year show that they are paying attention.
