CHERRYTREE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 7:14 p.m. on October 18, a hit and run crash involving a car and ATV occurred on State Route 8, at its intersection with Cherrytree Road, Cherrytree Township, Venango County.

This accident occurred as a 2010 Chrysler 300C operated by 36-year-old Francis M. Aiello, of Youngsville, was traveling north on SR 8 and came upon two side-by-side ATV’s also traveling north on SR 8.

The driver of the ATV behind the Chrysler motioned for Aiello to go around them, police say.

Aiello proceeded into the southbound lane to pass the ATV’s, when both vehicles turned left onto Cherrytree Road in front of him, according to police.

The Chrysler was struck by the front ATV in the front right portion of the car.

The ATV, operated by an unknown individual, failed to stop and headed west on Cherrytree Road.

The Chrysler came to a final rest on Cherrytree Road facing west.

Aiello and a passenger, 33-year-old Alexandria L. Aiello, also of Youngsville, were using seat belts and were not injured.

No other information was provided.
