FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Authorities evacuated a Franklin residential building yesterday afternoon after a Methamphetamine Lab was discovered in an apartment on Crestview Drive.

Sugarcreek Borough Police were dispatched around 3:50 p.m. to the 400 building of the Franklin Commons for a reported active domestic.

Police say 45-year-old Jerry Phillips (no permanent address), and a known female were identified as the actors involved in the confrontation.

During the investigation, “officers located precursors for the manufacturing of Methamphetamine. Agents from the Office of the Attorney General were contacted, and Sugarcreek Officers applied for a search warrant,” according to police.

The search warrant was executed by the Office of Attorney General agents and PSP Clandestine Lab Team.

According to police, evidence recovered from the scene showed that active “one-pot” cooking methods had been completed within the apartment as well as numerous chemicals and ingredients for manufacturing Methamphetamine.

Phillips was charged with possession of Methamphetamine precursors as well as risking a catastrophe.

He was arraigned before District Magistrate Kirkland and placed in Venango County Jail on $20,000.00 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 11, 2017.

Other charges in this case are pending.

Due to numerous “one-pot” labs located within the apartment, the building was evacuated.

Rocky Grove and Reno Volunteer Fire Departments, as well as Community Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
