MEADVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — The Crawford County Coroner has identified the body of a man that was discovered in French Creek Thursday afternoon.

Coroner Scott T. Schell said the man was 18-year-old Jacob Hayden Smith, of Erie.

Schell said there would be no autopsy, but toxicology tests were being done.

The cause of death is pending.

“It takes some time to get the toxicology reports back, so it’ll be a few weeks,” Schell said.

Schell also said Smith was staying with people from the Meadville area.

According to a story on MeadvilleTribune.com, Smith was found by another man who was walking across the railroad tracks near Kerrtown.

Schell said the body had been in the water for a brief amount of time.
