Authorities Searching for Witnesses to Deadly Crash in Salem Twp.

SALEM TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police in Clarion are searching for witnesses to a deadly crash last week in the Knox area.

According to Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Norris, around 6:25 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 22-year-old Russell Bishop, of Knox, was driving south on State Route 208 approximately one-half mile south of Brick Church Road in Salem Township.

For unknown reasons, Bishop crossed the double yellow lines into the northbound lane and then exited off the east side of the roadway.

Bishop’s vehicle sideswiped a tree and continued traveling south. The vehicle then impacted a second tree head-on and came to a final rest.

Bishop was pronounced dead at the scene by Clarion County Coroner Randall Stom.

Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department, Saint Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department, Knox Ambulance, and Hovis Towing assisted at the scene.
