Award-Winning Pianist Alec Chien to Perform at Franklin’s Barrow Theater

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – Award-winning pianist Alec Chien will be performing at a fundraiser event for The Pointe Drop-In Center in Oil City at the Barrow Theater on Friday, April 6.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m.

Recognized as western PA’s “adoptive native son,” Alec Chien is an award-winning pianist who has performed as a soloist and in major symphony orchestras around the world, including Philadelphia Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Utah Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, New Zealand Symphony, American Symphony, and Hong Kong Philharmonic.

Having retired in 2016 from Allegheny College where he was Artist-in-Residence and Professor of Music, Chien has brought his music to the Crawford County school districts, performing and speaking to students in both the high school and elementary school levels. His recitals have also been part of the Bicentennial Celebrations of the cities of Meadville, Erie, and of the Allegheny College.
