B. Kim Murray

B. Kim Murray, 64, of Cooperstown, passed away on October 6th, 2017 at home surrounded by his wife and dogs.

Born on December 5, 1952, in Alva, OK, he was the son of Louise (Whiteneck) Murray and the late Bob L. Murray.

He was an Army Vietnam era veteran serving in Germany.

Kim was a graduate of Sam Houston University in Huntsville, TX.

Following graduation, he was hired as a lab tech in the photography department at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Shortly thereafter he accepted the position of a photographer.

During the 1980’s he supported over 40 space shuttle mission operations. Kim flew in the zero-g (gravity) plane, did underwater photography and was the official photographer for several crew portraits. He then obtained an Associates Degree in Bowling Management from Vincennes University, in Vincennes, IN. Kim was hired by Brunswick and managed centers in TN, MN, PA and IL.

In 2000 Kim and wife moved to Franklin and was employed at Matric Ltd in cable assembly.

Mr. Murray was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Kim took several mission trips with Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders to Honduras.

Kim enjoyed doing time-lapse photography and making animated movies at the kitchen table.

Anyone who knew Kim knew his love for golf. His goal was to play a round every month of the year. He requested that his buddies play a round in his memory and have a toast with an adult beverage.

If he wasn’t golfing Kim loved spending time with his wife and their dogs Gracie and Jackson.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife and best friend Robin (Rodgers) of whom he married on May 19, 1984; his daughter Reagan Lee Murray of Anchorage, AK his son Zachary Ryan Murray of Friendswood, TX; his mother, Louise Murray; his brothers Tinker and wife Mary and Murray M. Murray and his wife Connie all of TX. He is further survived by his niece, Sharon Parker and her husband Tony of MI, and his nephew Mykel and his wife Brandi of HI, great niece & nephew Mattison and Mykenzie Parker of Missouri as well as several cousins.

Kim was preceded in death by his father, Bobby L. Murray who passed away in 2013.

Friends are invited to St. John’s Episcopal Church for a memorial mass on Saturday, October 14th at 11:00 AM with The Rev. Mother Elizabeth Yale officiating.
