Back the Blue 5k Set for June 16

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Police Department has set the date for the Back the Blue 5K BLUE Glow Run for Saturday, June 16, at Justus Park in Oil City.

The event, which celebrates and honors the lives of all current and fallen police officers, will begin with registration and check-in at 4:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. The 5K Run/Walk is slated to start at 8:00 p.m., with an end time of 9:30 p.m.

The price for registration before June 1 is $20.00 per person with a $2.50 sign-up fee, while sign-ups at later dates will be priced at $30.00 plus a $3.00 sign-up fee.

Entrants may also choose to walk the race instead, where they can opt to either walk either one mile or participate in the complete 5K course.

The top overall male and female winner of the event will receive an award plaque for their accomplishments, while the top three places in each age group will also be recognized with medals.

In addition to the 5K, the event will also include a Kids Fun Run for children ages 12 and under, where kids will receive a custom-made t-shirt, bib, medal, and BLUE glow accessories for participating.

The Kids Run will start at 7:30 p.m., with registration prices slated at $12.00 per child in addition to a $2.50 sign-up fee.

The event will also include a Community Day celebration preceding the 5K, with food, live music, a police K9 demonstration, and other activities planned from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
