MEADVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – An Allegheny College student is facing a series of assault and related charges following a violent incident at a bar in Meadville.

Court documents indicate 20-year-old Kobe M. Pinkney, of Upper Marlboro, MD, was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Samuel V. Pendolino on Thursday, April 11, on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
– Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Summary

He was released on a $5,000.00 posted by a professional bondsman.

According to the Meadville Tribune, Pinkney, a junior at Allegheny College, allegedly struck another man in the face so hard the victim was forced to have emergency surgery to have three plates and 15 pins placed in the left side of his face.

The incident occurred sometime between 1:00 a.m. and 1:28 a.m. April 7 at Julian’s Bar & Grill in Meadville. Pinkney reportedly punched the man in the face for allegedly drugging a female patron at the bar, but court documents indicate the victim “was wrongfully being accused.”

Police interviewed a witness on Wednesday who, according to the affidavit, reported the incident occurred in a line for the restrooms at the bar, when Pinkney allegedly walked up to the victim, tapped him on the shoulder and, when the victim turned around, punched him in the face before walking away.

The victim was transported to Meadville Medical Center, then transferred to UPMC Hamot in Erie for treatment of his injuries.

Pinkney was a running back on the college’s 2018 football team.

He is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Judge Pendolino at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22.
