Thumbnail (1)Barbara Ellis, 63, of Horn Road, Oil City died at 5:20 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 at her residence.

Born April 21, 1951 in Huntsville, AL, Barbara was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Curry) Crim.

On April 6, 1968 she married Merle L. Ellis and he preceded her death. On September 14, 2014 she married Jerry Hancox, who survives.

Barbara was employed as a private duty nurse.

She was of the protestant faith and enjoyed her horses.

In addition to her husband, Jerry Hancox of Oil City, Barbara is survived by her son Melvin D. Ellis and his wife, Georgia of Oil City; three brothers, William Crim and his wife, Joyce of Walnut Grove, AL, Pete Crim and wife of Tennessee, and Hank Crim of Virginia; two sisters, June Mann and her husband, David of Anniston, AL and Diane Humphrey of Oxford, AL; and three grandchildren, Devin E., Dillion M., and Danielle N. Littlefield all of Oil City.

In addition to her parents and first husband, as listed above, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Mitchell Ellis; brothers, Carl Crim and Michael Crim; and her sisters, Idella Mayo and Laura King.

Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA is handling the arrangements.

In Barbara’s memory, memorial donations may be made to the Venango VNA Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, PA 16323 and/or Barbara’s family.
