Barbara Jeanne Herman

| July 31, 2014

Miss Barbara Jeanne Herman, daughter of John and Jeanne Herman, both deceased, passed into glory at 1:06 am July 31, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville after a battle with cancer.

Barbara has been a resident of Clarion and the owner/operator of Dogs Paw Grooming Shoppes in Clarion and Brookville since 1983. She is not only known for her excellent grooming and love for the dogs, but also of the love and concern she showed for the owners.

Barbara started her working career after graduating from Ball State Teachers College (now Ball State University). She was hired to teach physical education in the Port Huron, Michigan school system. After that, she moved to eastern Pennsylvania and continued teaching. Her heart was pulled in different directions in the early 1970’s and she began raising and showing German Schnauzers and also opened up a ceramics shop.

Ceramics became her main interest and she learned all she could. She became a teacher to ceramics teachers and traveled all over most of the northern United States and into Canada. She relocated to Pinewah, Canada to be more centrally located. She left Canada and ceramics in 1983 after she returned to Clarion to help her Mother after the death of her Father.
Barbara became an avid golfer and would be on the course anytime weather would permit. Wonderfully, faithful friends made on the golf course have ministered to Barbara through her illness. Hardly a day went by without at least one of her golfing buddies making a visit to her. Thank you to you all.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents: John and Jeanne Herman; maternal grandparents: Win and Mary Smathers; maternal aunts: Kay Keller (Lewis), Sue Qualtrough (Paul and Joe Kenny); and her maternal uncle: Scott Smathers (Marjorie). She was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents: Charles and Minnie Herman; paternal aunts: Mabel Bell (Clark), Kate Williams (Carl), and Vi
Hartzell (Glen); paternal uncles: Charles Herman and Bill Herman (Fannie). Barbara was also preceded in death by her two nephews: Sean and Lance Cool.

Barbara’s death is being mourned by her brother John Herman (Nalean) of Swayzee, Indiana and their son John David (Joni) and Jordan, Jaclyn and Jayme of Grapevine, Texas and their daughter Darla
Hill (Tim) and Emily, Tory and Jennifer of Westfield, Indiana. Her sister Marcia Turnbull (Gregg) and Chad (Fiorella) and Adrian, Dana and Sean of Dothan, Alabama; Kimberly Summerlin (Richard) and Rit, Justyn and Nicholas of Bunnell, Florida; Traci Brinkmann (Eric) and Chelsea, Isabella and Emma of Wellington, Florida; Lindsay Simpson (Blake) and Morgan, Rylee, Lance and Logan of Campobello,
South Carolina; Norian Brown of Dothan, Alabama and Makayla Turnbull of Dothan, Alabama also are mourning her loss, but celebrating her move to glory.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held 10:00am until 12:00 noon on Monday, August 4th. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
