Have you ever been tempted to flee your own life? Becky Foster is caught in middle age, middle management and in a middling marriage — with no prospects for change on the horizon. Then one night, a socially inept and grief-stricken millionaire stumbles into the car dealership where Becky works. Becky is offered nothing short of a new life, and the audience is offered a chance to ride shotgun in a way that most plays wouldn’t dare.

“Becky’s New Car,” a play by Steven Dietz, is a thoroughly original comedy with serious overtones, a devious and delightful romp down the road not taken.

Betsy Novotny of Homestead stars as Becky Foster. Additional cast members are: Daniel LaMond, of North Beach, Md., as Joe Foster, Becky’s hard-working, blue-collar husband; Kevin Bradley, of Shippenville as their son Chris Foster, a psychology student who lives at home; Philip Rocco, of Monroeville, as Walter Flood, an eccentric, widowed multi-millionaire; Kylie Judy, of Franklin, as Walter’s daughter Kensington (Kenni) Flood; Justin Baumgarten, of Philipsburg, as Steve, a neurotic co-worker of Becky’s; and Rachel Mason, of Burgettstown, as Ginger, friend and neighbor of Walter’s. Tree Zuzzio, of Camp Hill, and Kristin Schrecengost, of Kersey, are understudies.

Crew members are: Abigail Stone-Huchko, of Burgettstown, stage manager; Lindsay V. Smelcer, of Bensalem, assistant stage manager; Thomas Feather, of Windber, set design; Zachary Rupp, of Nottingham, Md., lighting design; Courtney Chaplin, of McMurray, costume design; Tori Heckert, of Red Lion, properties design; and Benjamon Fye, of Woodland, sound design.

Robert Bullington, assistant professor of theatre, is director.
