FRYBURG, Pa. (EYT) — A benefit dinner for a local man who was injured in an accident is being held on April 7 at St. Michael’s Hall.

On July 29, 2004, Chris Eisenman lost his footing when he was helping with the construction of a garage. He fell off the roof of the building and flat on his back, suffering injuries that left him paralyzed from the chest down.

Screen Shot 2018-03-21 at 2.55.21 PMSince the accident, Chris has used a conventional wheelchair to maneuver, but a few years ago his family discovered a newer type of stand-up wheelchair that would be beneficial and would provide more comfort and greater maneuverability. Unfortunately, his insurance will not help pay for a new chair or the necessary attachment. Additionally, he still has other medical bills to cover.

Chris’ daughter-in-law, Shaylee, his son, Blaine, and his daughter, Kareena, decided to step in and try to raise money to help by organizing the Chris and Becky Eisenman Benefit Dinner.

Shaylee told exploreClarion.com, “I had been talking to my husband and sister-in-law about what we could do to help because my father-in-law really needs a new wheelchair and standing attachment that goes with it.”

“The whole month of January myself, my husband, and my sister-in-law-talked about doing a benefit dinner in hopes to raise the money they need to get his wheelchair and help pay for medical bills and whatever they may need,” she said.

“The new stand up wheelchair would be so medically beneficial for him to help strengthen his muscles and to help circulate blood flow. We had him in one a few years ago just to see the benefits and how it works and it was amazing!”

The benefit will be held on April 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s Hall in Fryburg, Pa.

The dinner is being catered by the Washington House and includes spaghetti, salad, a roll, and a drink. Take-out will be available.

Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children ages five to ten. Children four and under are free.

The benefit will also include a 50/50, a Chinese raffle, and a bake sale.

Entertainment will be provided by Second Strike DJ.

The event is BYOB.

Donations of non-perishable items will be accepted at the dinner, and any other donations will be graciously accepted by the family.
