Bernice P. McCoy age 88, of Knox, passed away early Thursday morning, September 7, 2017, at Clarview Nursing Home.

Born January 19, 1929, in St. Petersburg, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Margaret Ketner Nevel.

She married Paul Emerson McCoy on February 11, 1950, in Marienville, Pennsylvania, who preceded her in death on August 20, 2009.

Bernice was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mt. Joy Methodist Church. She raised chickens, enjoyed gardening, flowers, and farmed alongside her husband.

Survivors include her three sons: Thomas McCoy and his wife Linda, Ivan McCoy and his wife Laurie and Jim McCoy, all of Knox; two daughters: Bonnie Hunsberger and husband Ron of Emlenton and Patty Buterbaugh and husband Geary of Knox and 11 grandsons, two granddaughters, 11 great grandsons, and 10 great granddaughters.

She is also survived by three sisters: Barbie Grossman, Helen Raybuck, and Georgie Landers.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Harold, and Paul Nevel; two sisters, Betty Davenport and Phyllis Cotherman.

There will be no viewing at Bernice’s request.

Family and friends will be received from 5-6 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2017, at the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. in the church with former pastor Rev. Dan Myers officiating.

Interment will follow at Providence Cemetery, Knox.
