Bessie B. Puleo

Bessie B. Puleo, 96, formerly of 322 E. Third St. and Seneca Court Apartments, Oil City, PA. died peacefully at 10:30 P.M. Tuesday July 22, 2014 at the home of her friend and caregiver Janice Gayetty Urban.

Born Feb. 25, 1918 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of Salvatore & Anna Puleo Bruno.

She was married in St. Stephen’s Church on June 22, 1938 to Anthony J. (Tom) Puleo and he preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1986

A homemaker, Bessie was employed many years as a seamstress for Brody’s and Welker & Maxwell Dept. Stores.

Bessie was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Church.

She enjoyed gardening.

Bessie had volunteered many years at the Red Cross and for St. Stephen’s Scool Cafeteria had worked the polls for the Venango County Election Board for many years.

She had been a member of the Venango Chorus and for St. Stephen’s Choir.

She was a member of the Rosary Society at St. Stephen’s, the former CD OF A , and the former Prime Timers.

She is survived by one daughter: Mary E. Kuenzig & her husband Mark of Mason, OH, 2 Grandchildren: Adam & Nathan Kuenzig, 2 sisters: Angela Prather & her husband Robert of Franklin and Frances Rodgers of Oil City, a special friend Janice Gayetty Urban & her husband Bob of Oil City, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bessie was preceded in death by a grandson: Carl Dominic Kuenzig, and seven sisters: Rose Petulla, Nena Parker, Josephine Kulinski, Mary McMahon, Virginia Bruno, Stephanie Spence, and Sally McDonald.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in St. Stephen’s Church with Fr. Matthew Ruyechan, Pastor, Presiding.

Entombment will follow in Bishop McManaman Memorial Mausoleum
