Best Man Seriously Injured in Foxburg Wedding Dispute; Man Charged with Aggravated Assault

FOXBURG, Pa. (EYT) – A man is facing aggravated assault and related charges following an alleged incident that occurred in Foxburg Borough, Clarion County.

According to court documents, Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 31-year-old Deo Cody Beck, of Kittanning.

According to a criminal complaint, around 12:31 a.m. on August 21, “Deo Cody Beck was at the Foxburg Inn on the rear deck and started yelling at (a known man), saying that he should have been the best man in his (relative’s) wedding and not him.”

Beck then “punched (the known man) in the face once. The results of this punch caused suspected major injuries with broken bones in the face and stitches needed on the face,” the complaint indicates.

“(The victim) was interviewed at the scene, and he said that Beck punched him for no reason,” the complaint states.

“(The victim) was taken to Clarion Hospital for medical treatment by ambulance,” the complaint continues.

This assault was also witnessed by two known individuals. They both said that “Beck sucker punched (the victim),” according to the complaint.

The complaint indicates that “(Beck) intentionally damaged (the victim’s) eyeglasses with a total value of $300.00.”

Based on his investigation, Trooper Berggren, of PSP Clarion, filed a criminal complaint against Beck in Magisterial District Judge Amy Long Turk’s office.

He was arraigned at 3:30 a.m. on August 21 on the following charges:

  • Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
  • Criminal Mischief — Damage Property, Summary

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, Beck was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on September 6 in Clarion County Central Court.
