Bette J. Stewart, 73, of Franklin, passed away at The Caring Place on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

Born May 21, 1944, in Montana, New Jersey, Bette was the daughter of the late James Fremont and Lenora Byrd Dunlap. She was married to James R. Stewart who preceded her in death.

Left to cherish Bette’s memory is her son, James E. Stewart, of Franklin; her three daughters, Debbie Winger and her husband, Jeffrey, of Pittsburgh, Melissa Beightol of Franklin, and Patricia Mazza and her husband, Richard, of Mt. Pleasant; and her two grandchildren, Christina and Chandler Beightol, both of Franklin.

Bette is also survived by her six brothers, James “Junior” Fremont Dunlap, and his companion, Geraldine, of Mayport, David Dunlap and his wife, Juanita, of Greensboro, NC, Lester Dunlap and his companion, Liz, of Marble, Paul Dunlap and his wife, Nellie of Shelocta, Gary Dunlap and his wife, Karen, of Polk, and Richard “Lou” Dunlap and his wife, Kay, of Franklin; and her sister, Virginia Matthews of St. Petersburg.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Wednesday, May 2, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Bette will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, May 3, at 11:00 a.m. with Dennis Jones, retired Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Venango County Humane Society – PO Box 1045, Oil City PA 16301.
