Betty Mae Winger, 86, of Oil City, Oakland Township, died Monday, July 28, 2014 at The Caring Place in Franklin.

She was born on August 8, 1927 in Oil City to the late Clair and Marie (Hockman) Moon.

Betty was a 1945 graduate of Oil City High School and attended the Welsh Business School.

Mrs. Winger was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed crocheting and made many afghans over the years for family members. Betty also was an avid collector of postcards, paper dolls, and depression-era glassware.

In her earlier years, she was employed as the secretary for Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City. She then became a dedicated homemaker, wife, and mother.

Betty was married in Nineveh on January 22, 1949 to Edward A. Winger, and he survives.

Also surviving is a son, Jeff Winger and his wife Debbie of Pittsburgh; two brothers, Robert Moon and William Moon and his wife, Ginger; two sisters, Judy Flinchbaugh and husband Jim and Sharon Kay Heller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Wice; and her brother, Edward Moon.

Friends will be received Tuesday (July 29th) from 7-9 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, Inc., 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home Wednesday (July 30) at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Edward P. Saxman, pastor of Oakland United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oakland United Methodist Church, 1431 Rte. 428, Oil City, PA 16301.
