Blanche E. Halloran

Blanche E. Halloran, 94 of 226 Gilfillan St. Franklin, affectionately known as “Aunt Bea” to everyone passed away at 3:45 P.M. on Friday December 28, 2012 at UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh.

Born in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Kneib Halloran.

At an early age, Blanche moved to Bridgeville where she graduated from high school in 1937. In 1940 she returned to Franklin.

She worked at CPT in Franklin from 1941-1945. In 1945 she started with GTE as an operator and worked there until she retired in 1983 from the marketing department.

She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Church in Franklin.

Blanche was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Civic League, the Colonel Drake Pioneer Club and the Jolly Club.

She was a volunteer with the Heart Fund, United Way, Meals on Wheels, AARP and the Cancer Society.

Blanche enjoyed bowling in the “Let’s take a break league”, and several other leagues over the years. She was inducted into the Bowlers Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Surviving are fourteen nieces and nephews; Carol Petrosyn, Judy Monarch, Patty Miller, Kathie Shetler, Kim Rider, Mike Vath, Duff Vath, Linda Crawford, Cindy Vath, Robert Grimm, Bernard Grimm Jr., Karen Barton, Chris Grimm and Lisa McGinnis.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings; Mary Frank, Patricia Vath, Bernard Grimm, Roger Grimm; a niece, Sharon Cramer and a nephew Mark Vath.

Family and friends welcome on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc. 312 West Park St. Franklin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon on Thursday in St. Patrick Church, 949 Liberty St. Franklin with Monsignor John J. Herbein, officiating.
