Body of Titusville Man Found After Extensive Search of Clear Lake

SPARTANSBURG, Pa. (EYT) –The body of a Titusville man has been recovered by search teams. He was last seen on Monday kayaking on Clear Lake.

The Corry-based State Police have identified the man as 51-year-old Thomas W. Erickson.

Police report that Erickson’s body was located in the lake around 1:25 p.m.

According to police, there is no suspicion that criminal activity was involved in Erickson’s death.

Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell reports that an autopsy is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

The police say that Erickson’s Kayak was found in the lake partially submerged and Erickson was fishing the lake without a life preserver.

The state police led the search of the lake beginning on Monday when Erickson was reported missing.

According to police, another person fishing the lake witnessed Erickson’s kayak capsize.

The lake’s perimeter was searched by emergency personnel from the state police, Fish and Boat Commission, as well as local fire departments.

Divers checked the area, but did not find anything on Monday.

A Stat Med-Evac helicopter flew over the lake as part of the search operations and rescue dogs aided emergency personnel in localizing the search.

The search resumed early Tuesday morning resulting in the discovery of Erickson’s body.
