Boys’ Basketball Recaps: Cranberry Ends Regular Season With Win

CRANBERRY 64, VENANGO CATHOLIC 53

OIL CITY, Pa. — Evan Lutz led a trio of Cranberry players in double figures with 18 points, as the Berries closed out the regular season with a 64-53 win at Venango Catholic.

Brendan Zerbe added 11 points for Cranberry (14-8, 12-4 KSAC North) with Nick Varsek chipping in 10.

Brady Kingston closed out a terrific career for Venango Catholic with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Tim Wagner added 11 points for the Vikings (6-16, 5-11).

KEYSTONE 57, A-C VALLEY 22

FOXBURG, Pa. — Austin Ion scored 17 points to help Keystone secure a .500 regular season and with it a District 9 Class AA playoff berth with a 57-22 road win at A-C Valley in KSAC South action.

Mason Rearick added nine points for the Panthers (11-11, 9-7 KSAC South), who had nine different players score.

Austin Heeter led A-C Valley (5-16, 2-14) with 11 points.

NORTH CLARION 66, FOREST AREA 39

MARIENVILLE, Pa. — Nathan Banner scored a career-high 23 points, as North Clarion went on the road and closed out its season with a 66-39 win over Forest Area at East Forest.

Zayn Hargenrader and Griffin Schmader both added 10 points for the Wolves (9-13, 7-9 KSAC North).

Seth Berlin paced Forest Area with 17 points and eight rebounds. Andrew Schwab added eight points with Cody Slater grabbing 11 rebounds for the Fires (2-19, 0-16), who close out their season by traveling to Tidioute Charter Thursday.
