OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Police Department is investigating a burglary at the Venango Catholic High School located at 1505 West First Street.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, September 2, Oil City Police Officers responded to the report of a burglar alarm at the school. At the time, everything was found to be secure, and no one was observed inside. Police attempted to make contact with staff without success.

Around 11:00 a.m., the headmaster of the school called to report that he and other staff members were at the school and discovered that the school was, in fact, entered. Officers responded to investigate.

Various locations within the school were found to have sustained light to severe damages where the perpetrator(s) had either accessed or attempted to access secured portions of the school or to remove valuables. Evidence at the scene led officers to believe that when the security systems went off inside the school, the perpetrator(s) quickly fled the scene.

The Oil City Police Department is asking that anyone who has knowledge of the crime to come forward, even anonymously. Anyone who may have witnessed people on foot or vehicles coming or going from that location or area in the early morning hours are also asked to provide any information they have.

Those with information can contact the Oil City Police Department 24 hours a day at 814-678-3080.
