BREAKING NEWS: Authorities Release Identity of Man Killed in I-80 Crash

EMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) – State Police have released the identity of a man killed in a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 80 on Thursday evening.

Clarion-based State Police have identified 54-year-old Joseph Bieganowski, of Warren, Ohio.

Police say the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday near mile marker 40.8 on Interstate 80 eastbound.

According to police, four commercial vehicles were involved in the crash.

The accident happened when a vehicle operated by Bieganowski struck the rear of a vehicle operated by 64-year-old James Beaty of Nicktown, Pa.

Beaty’s vehicle was subsequently pushed into a vehicle operated by 61-year-old Calvin Tartt of Canton, Ohio.

Tartt’s vehicle then collided with a vehicle operated by 37-year-old Alonzo Pipkin of Columbus, Ga.

Bieganowski was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police did not indicate whether anyone else was injured.

The crash shut down a 16-mile stretch of Interstate 80 eastbound between mile marker 29 and mile marker 45 for over five hours.
